SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA - In Monday's "What's buggin' you?" segment, News10 reported on a driver's complaint about potholes in south Sacramento. Well, not only will those potholes on Power Inn Road be repaired, but the county is ramping up pothole repairs throughout the unincorporated county.
Starting Tuesday, Nov. 1, the Sacramento County Department of Transportation will begin identifying potholes in the Arden-Arcade area, mark them with white paint, and then fill them over the next two weeks, weather permitting.
Nov. 14, workers will move on to south Sacramento to make the same kind of repairs.
Transportation department spokesman Dan Regan said pothole repair is ongoing throughout the year but during a fall "sweep", crews work to get the roads in good shape before winter weather. Then in the spring, there's another sweep to make repairs caused by rain and storms.
Regan says residents who want to report a particular road for pothole problems should call (916) 875-5171 -- or visit www.sacdot.com.
On average, Sacramento County makes 35,400 pothole repairs annually at a cost of $1,900,000 million. That works out to $53 per pothole.
There are 5,200-lane miles of paved roadways in unincorporated Sacramento County.
